Research Interests
Basic interests are in plant physiology/molecular biology. Current work in the laboratory at Southeast Missouri State University is in
the field of postharvest physiology and is a continuation of projects initiated at
UCLA and Beltsville. The role of cell wall hydrolases in the ripening of avocado and
tomato fruits is being investigated from a biochemical and molecular angle.
A strong interest in teaching and learning coupled with a similarly strong interest in
the melding of information technology with teaching has led to heavy involvement in
instructional technology and teaching/learning issues on campus. This ultimately led
to taking on the duties of Director of the Center for
Scholarship in Teaching and Learning (CSTL) at Southeast Missouri State, a role
assumed June 1, 1999.
