Overview
The Southeast Student Medical Society (SSMS) is designed to facilitate a variety of activities to provide information to students interested in a career in the health professions. The program is supported by a faculty advisor, Dr. James Champine. The society is designed to provide students in the pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-optometry, and pre-chiropractic programs with information regarding different professional schools, admission and acceptance to them, and admissions test registration and preparation.
A variety of curricula will satisfy professional school admissions requirements. However, most students elect to major in or emphasize the areas of biology, chemistry, physics, or psychology. A strong background in the liberal arts is desirable.Meetings
Meetings of the Southeast Student Medical Society will be held periodically. A meeting schedule is available here.
