Thank you to all the Cape Central Band community (parents, teachers, alumni, and students) for your support in successfully defending the band program and Mr. LaMar during the recent round of budget cuts. It is important to stay vigilant for the band and for education in general for many years to come. The support given is heartening; we fully expect growth and the continued development of excellence in the band for the years ahead. None of this would be remotely possible without the time and effort that each of you have provided to the band in this time of need.

we really need to save mr. larmar he is one of the best things that has happened to the percussion and the band overall! we need him and we shouldn't take the abuse just because we aren't a sports team! they are going to hire another band director after a couple of years anywas because they will finally realize that the band has to have 3 directors not 2! they did the same thing a couple of years ago! so we wont let them do it again and if they do i know our band definitly wont be the same! the meeting is at 6 at the old votech! BE THERE IF YOU WANT HIM TO STAY!

Hey all! I just want to say that everyone did an outstanding job at St. Louis, even though we didn't place. This has been an amazing year and I had a blast. To all the seniors---Thanx for being such great leaders and helping us through this season. It went by so much faster than last year. Our music & marching has improved since last year and hopefully next year, we will get first more than once. To Mr. Casey,Mr. LaMar,& Mr. Keys:Thanx for putting up with us because I know you do marching band cause you want to.I know you don't have to do this. A special thank you to Ms. Strickert-You have always believed in us(the colorguard)and you were always there to give us a break when it was too hott,or a wash cloth when we were sweating to death. Remember, you are our *MOM*.Last, but not least, I want to thank my parents. They put up with helping everyone, even though they don't have to.I love my guard mom!!!!Next year, though, is going to be outstanding. I will finally be a senior and will get to sit on the buses first!lol! Again, congragulations on a fantastic year of marching band and I hope to see everyone back next year! I Love you Elizabeth!!

And I want to thank the seniors of the band, you guys, I love you sooo much and I will miss you next year! Our band season was great, winning 1st in everything at Washington brought tears to my eyes, and of course, St. Louis brought the tears back, but I learned that I was happy with how we did even if we didn't get what we believed we should! Freshman, Sophomore, and Juniors, stay in band, it makes you high school year a blast, I promise!!! And next year, the 2004 show is going to beat everyone in the Gold division in St. Louis, and I will be there to cheer you on!! Alumni~ I misss you guys a lot!!! Keep your chins up -- you've done a great job. It is the experience that you will remember, not the score. Just remember how you felt after that last note when everyone lept to their feet in applause. I was one of them.

Ways to be an Annoying Band Person 1. Play the part on your music that says "2nd time through only" on the first time and say loudly, "Cool, I got a solo!" 2. Get out on the field before practice and move all of the yard marker signs down 10 yards. 3. If the uniform has suspenders, wear them over your coat. 4. Sit up in the stands at contest and say every 10 minutes, "I seem to hear music coming from somewhere." 5. See if those uniforms are REALLY dry clean only. 6. When an "on the field" judge walks by, stab him with your instrument. 7. Lean over into his tape recorder and leave a personal message for your band director. (Example: Hey, Mr. Matzat, did you see how we all did that 3-count turn right in the second song?) 8. Undo the buttons, zippers, snaps, velcro and whatever else are on your uniform coat, tie the arms around your neck, and run around screaming, "I AM BATMAN!!! I AM BATMAN!!!" 9. While everyone else is unloading, carefully remove the screws from the drum major's stand. 10. Sit on top of the bus in the parking lot with huge speakers playing the Riverdance at full blast. Yell "Yee-hah!!!" at appropriate times. 11. During a performance, run into the end zone, tear off your hat, spike your flute on the ground, and do your best Deion Sanders impersonation. 12. Sling your trombone slide into the stands so as to give someone a lucky souvenir. 13. Stand at the entrance to the field asking everyone who comes in if they have any valve oil. 14. Redirect the line unloading uniforms so that everything goes right back on the bus. 15. At any freestyle moments in the show, make an ear piercing shrill scream. 16. On the retreat, insist that you should be a part of it even if you're not the drum major.

Hey everyone. Its about an hour until the Tigers have to be at the Highschool for the Dome trip. I'm really excited. I can't believe that marching is one competition away from being over for the season. Sure, we are still going to have to go to "marching" 7th hour but its not the same. I have had so much fun in these past 3 months. I've made a lot of friends and I've gotten to know my old friends better. Personally I think its really sad that the seasons over. I can't wait till next year. There are some people that I think need to be recognized -- I would like to thank the upper classmen for making this a good year. I've learned a lot from you. I want to thank my mom also because she was the one that has had to wake up early almost every saturday for the past month and a half and take me to school. Last but not least, I want to thank Mr. Keys, Mr. Lamar, and Mr. Casey. You guys have worked really hard this season. I'm glad that I have had the opportunity to be a Marching Tiger. Well, I'm about to leave the house to go to school. I'll see everyone there. Good luck and play to your fullest.

When you get in college people tell war stories about their marching bands. It is hilarious. Create some fond memories and they will stick with you wherever you go. Again, good luck and play your guts out! ;)

Marching band is soo awesome!! I've had a lot of fun. I can't believe our last competition is almost here. St. Louis is gonna be awesome. We have a good week of hard work left. Marching band has been everything I thought it would be but I really didn't think I would make that many friends. I was totally wrong. Everyone in my section is the best. Even tho sometimes we may not agree with our section leader, its always fun. I can't wait untill next year. I want to do this all over again, but with more 1st place wins! ;-) Kepp up all the hard work everyone and the best of luck to us all!! Love Alwayz, Billie Rinehart -trumpet line 03-

Hey all!! I just wanted to say that even though we didn't make the finals at SMS, we still did an awesome job!!!But,we can't give up now, we still have St. Louis to do!!!Colorguard is absolutly AMAZING this year. I still can't belive we got a caption! I had fun last year with marching band, but this year is so much better. I know what we did in the smart room with watching the tape and looking at our charts will help some of us.But, whoever thinks it was stupid, then those are the people who are only in marching band because they have to be.At St. Louis, we are going to show everyone who we really are! We'll prove to them that we belong at the top! Good luck and work hard these next two weeks. Go COLORGUARD!!!!

Hey Guys!

Even though we just missed finals at SMSU by tenths of a point, this is the closest our band has ever been. I think we all did awsome. Everyone i talked to said we should have beat out 3rd 4th and 5th place. It all just depends of the judges. We will rock St. Louis in 2 weeks. Just practice hard a d practice like it's a performance, it really works! GUARD ROCKS!!!!! KEEP IT UP GIRLS!:)

Congratulations Marching Tigers!!! All of the hard work and dedication you have shown is paying off in a big way this year. I am proud of each and every one of you. Outsiders to your quest for perfect tone, synchronized movement, and professional showmanship, have no idea what it takes. Only those close to you, either at home or in rank, know what it has taken to get you here. Keep up the good work! We're looking forward to seeing you with yet another "trophy photo opportunity" in Springfield. Billie, I am very proud of you and happy that you have found a "band" similiar to what I had when I was your age. These are memories that you will keep for a lifetime. I know I will!

My daughter is a Freshman and this is my first experience with marching band. These kids are very special. The time and energy that these young adults give to the band is unmatched in any other school activity. I am amazed. Best of luck, and my support will always be there. God Bless

You have to admit, the band wouldn't sound the same without them!!!!! I can't wait until we rock the stadium in Springfield! That first place trophey looks amazing to me, and I can't believe we have made it this far. This is what band is all about. I hope that trophey inspires everyone to work their tail off out on that field during rehearsal, because i know I want another one of those huge tropheys again next week! Congratulations to the band and I hope their is more tropheys and GUARD CAPTIONS to win! LOVE YOU ALL, STEFANI

The band seems to be full of energy this year. The color guard is doing a wonderful job. I just wish my husband could see the band and our daughter Angela perform this year. He is presently somewhere in Irag on active duty. He will not be back home until May of 2004. I did tell him to check the website to see the pictures of the different performances. Keep up the great job. Helen Heise(mother of Angela Heise)

It was really cool when I found your web-site because she is always talking about how great the CHS band program was and still is. I want to share our favorite quote with the color guard: "Pain is temporary, Pride is forever!" Keep this in mind in everything you do! Good luck and have a great season!

Hey clarinets! I know that a few of us veterans have been tough on y'all these past couple weeks, but I think that you've worked very hard and have really improved. We don't have it down near as well as we would like, but we will if we just keep up the hard work. No matter how much Mr. Casey picks on us, you all are doing really well. He only picks on us because he knows we can do better...which we can...and we will. Good luck to everyone tomorrow! If we remember everything we've worked on, we've got a good chance at 1st. Let's do just that and hear only positive comments about clarinets on the judges' tapes! GOOD LUCK MARCHING TIGERS!!!

Hey guys, Well the seniors probobly still remember me but for the rest of you i was a drum major in 2001 and am now stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls Montana. Just wanted to wish you all good luck this weekend im sure you will do well. We always did do well there. These days are the best days of your lives. Band is probobly the best thing you could have joined in high school. You will learn so much more than just marching and playing music. But i will leave that for all of you to see. Once again good luck and maybe i can make it down to TWA or something. Take care. -Adam Tucker Clarinet '99 Tenor Sax'00 Drum Major'01

Hey Marching Tigers! Just thought I would drop you guys a line from the mountains of Utah. I am doing marching band here and it is great. Band camp was pretty tough here, but it was worth it. We play in a stadium tha holds 60,000 people. Our half time show is Seahawk (nothing but trumpet licks), The Plagues from the Prince of Egypt, Carmina Burana, Silverado, Soak up the Sun, and some western song. Ah! I hope that you all have a great year and all I have to say is...GO TRUMPETS! Have fun and play your guts out. Watch college football and you may see us on ESPN! Ashleigh Redfearn Class of 2003

I can't really say I've done much in marching, but I don't think I've worked so hard on something. Everyone in our trumpet section is awesome.
